ACCESS is a compelling three-part documentary series that delves into the transformative journey of Joe Louis – the iconic heavyweight champion in the boxing ring – as he transitions from boxing to becoming a golf pioneer.
​
​In boxing, Joe was the symbol of democracy that fought and defeated the symbol of fascism in the ring. In golf, Joe made the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) re-evaluate its “Caucasian-only clause,” which prohibited African American men from playing in PGA Tournaments.
​
The series aims to shed light on Louis’s profound impact on the golfing community, specifically among African Americans not only in Chicago, but also internationally; and how his legacy and the barriers he fought to eradicate resonate to this day.
