MEET TRACY

Committed to Creating Positive Change

I founded Teach Our Children, Inc (TOC) in 1996 creating a coloring book featuring subject matters centered around African American culture, history, and traditions. Today, it is a 501(c)(3) providing educational resources centered around cultural and historical perspectives for individuals of all ages.

I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Chicago State University. I have 30 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory Science specializing in chromosome analysis and molecular cytogenetics for leukemia/lymphoma and a wide-range of cancers.

I am married to Philip and we've been blessed to raise our three children (Akila, Abdel, and Ahmad) in Chicago. Akila has completed her Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology at Loyola University Chicago; Abdel is completing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineer at Prairie View A&M University; and Ahmad is majoring in Business Administration/Management Information Systems at Winston-Salem University.

During the time between 1996 and 2016, TOC was dormant but my passion for golf catapulted! My desire to introduce more children to the game grew as I saw the glaring underrepresentation of African Americans playing golf in local, state, amateur and professional tournaments. All three of our children played golf in high school and Abdel and Ahmad play in college.

Therefore, I embarked on a campaign to introduce more people to golf, teach the history of African Americans in golf, and teach about careers in the multi-billion-dollar golf industry that African Americans represent fractionally.
